[Dar Es Salaam - Phuket] Day 7 -- Sundried Breadcrumbs

Day seven started with a breakfast, as usual, but not with a breakfast as usual. We discovered severe fungi on all of our bread. Most of it was not good for anything more than throwing it over board. From the rest of the precious stuff we peeled of the few marks of fungus and sundried the bread. With a bite somewhat like old shoes, we still did have bread at least. No big deal, people eat sundried food everywhere in the world, meat, fruits, and now, bread.

The rest of the day went by quiet with me still trying to find the source of our bad electricity and cleaning the engine starter contacts. We sailed well enough to have another bottle of wine after a fantastic junk food dinner of steak and french fries. We came to notice there was only officers aboard our vessel plus the cook. The captain, Hartmut, first officer, my brother and the engineer, me. Only the highest ranks. We informed our cook of that fortunate fact, because otherwise an officers meal and a crew meal would have had to be separately prepared. With only one pot and a couple of flat pans provided for the fixed installed gas cooker that was as inclined as the boat itself that would have been more than a magical trick. Even now, every night we were surprised of how Alex managed to come up with excellently cooked meals under these extreme circumstances. Maybe magic already?
