Another day of moving boxes has passed. We put up a desk in my room (which will become my brothers study room later) and connected our computers. What a feeling! Somehow seems they must have always been right here. With not much sleep from the night before I didn't feel like it did a lot. I spent a good part of the day installing a noname webcam with no drivers while my brother took organization in the house a good step further. Still, at the end of the day I, too, had moved a lot of stuff around and the house started to look quite good. Some furniture was installed, the boxes piled along the walls in the correct rooms and the living room was emptying and actually going back to being spacious.
After we'd gone for some dinner in the evening I received a phone call from Lucie. She'd be coming to pick me up in a couple of minutes to take me to party. A little later I was in a car on my way to Phitsanulok, completely unprepared and with three of Lucie's friends who spoke English next to none. They took me to a disco in a hotel where I'd be the only farang and one of the few not wearing jeans. As I said, I was completely unprepared, but that didn't change my good mood. We partied hard and finished two bottles of scotch together. In Thailand the way you go about drinks in a disco is different from Europe. In a european disco the average guy orders single drinks, maybe even a couple of them. If you want to go expensive, you order a bottle. In a Thai disco it's the complete opposite. You order a bottle of spirit, a box of ice and your mix drink, usually water or coke. If you want to wait for your drinks and still go expensive you order single drinks. Noone does! But with the habit of constantly refilling glasses the Thais have successfully beaten the "let's just finish this drink" attitude. It'll not be finished before the whole bottle is gone.
I fell asleep on the way back to the house. I had joked with my brother about the soft mixtures that were served in Thailand in front of Lucie. It had inspired her to tell everyone to double the alcoholic contents of my beverage when they refilled my glass. Even though I was not feeling drunk, I was completely exhausted. The spirits here seem to be of somewhat lesser purity than their European equivalents. I could feel the effects in the morning by not feeling a lot of my body. I needed all day to recover and just could not get to handle the climate today. Minimal movements made my body drain from sweat. Stay away from that stuff for a couple of nights
