Arrival in Thailand

I had a bad dream, the night I left. Somehow everything must have finally gotten to me. Probably I just didn't have time before, but my mind just needed to realize what exactly I am doing. In a busy day I had packed and moved some memorable and valuable items to my parents house, sent out the last ebay packages and sold my bike. After seeing many friends in my last Berlin night I slept at my parents house.

As I said, I didn't sleep well. Everything that lay behind me and everything that was about to come roamed my dreaming. At about 7 a.m. I woke up in panic. Somehow I got this intense feeling something might have been forgotten and I might miss my flight. With so many things to do in the past weeks and all those little details to think about and even some more little things left for the morning of departure my mind just couldn't believe all organization had worked out. The feeling didn't stay long. I made myself calm down and lie back to sleep. This time, for the remaining two hours, I did sleep well and woke with a fresh energy for the day.

I threw away the torn jeans that I had worn until last night and got into my travel dress. Some words written down to my parents who were on holiday and a quick check on my email before I had a small breakfast with my brother Tommi. He took me to the airport after that while I was on the phone to say goodbye to some friends. My brother Andrew and family had not yet arrived, but that was no surprise. Daily madness, rather. So I went to the empty check-in counter and reserved our seats and already checked my luggage. Now I was all ready to go and in wait. Next to arrive was my brother Uwe with his girlfriend and his sister Maria. He was on the phone with Andrew and they were about to depart from home. No problem, still an hour to go, we'd actually have too much time.

After checking in the family's baggage which they paid 10 kilos overweight for, we stood outside for all the smokers to share their final cigarettes. I felt ready to leave and in my mind was already in the plane, while the others seemed to rather not let us go, yet. Not too long though and we had boarded the plane, a bottle of Johnny Walker in a plastic bag from the duty free shop with us for the flight. Luckily, the plane was rather empty.

Due to technical and organizational problems we had an hour delay for take-off. We used that time to find a complete empty row of four seats and left our own row to Tuk and Tony so now each of us had two seats to sit on. A bit more leg space and it might have felt like business class, considering the forbidden hidden drinks from our trusty bottle that tasted so well with the coke provided by the nice crew. We were lucky that they only noticed when we had already finished our drinking and now we were ready to go to sleep anyway. I usually have a lot of trouble sleeping on planes, but with this medicine and the extra space I slept like a baby. And there is actual proof for this. As we found out later we flew through a heavy storm that scared the **** out of Tuk and Tony and even the flight attendant. We didn't even notice! They must actually have tried to wake us to get us to buckle up. Guess they had no chance at all!

I woke up refreshed and enjoyed the breakfast. Less than two hours left to fly. Soon we were descending and a little later got out of the plane. The daughter of some friend picked us up to guide us to the empty diplomats passport control and so we were out of the airport in no time. We are staying at Tuk's sisters house now and have started to look for a pickup truck to buy. The weather is being kind and it's not too hot at the moment so we have the time to get used to the different climate. I am not feeling like I am on vacation, there is just nothing like vacation that I do. I feel like living a normal but lazy life, but I think it may just not be quiet for too long.
