[Dar Es Salaam - Phuket] Day 24 -- Equator Crossing

My brother woke my at three in the morning for my watch. It was the twentyfourth day of the journey and the night had been quiet. I had a tough time trying to stay awake with the boat swiftly moving along at a constant speed and a slight breeze from behind pushing it gently. The day went by slowly and after a short night like that I spent the time seeking shade and dozing. Early afternoon we passed over the equator and the captain knighted us, giving me a new nickname, "Sparky", as all engineers are called on ships, as he explained. All day and the coming night we were motor-sailing at good speed and with decent winds. I went to sleep after the nightly movie not to wake before the next morning.
