Still in the Kitchen

I had spent some more days with my brother trying desperately to come to an end with the kitchen, but the task started to seem endless. Soon we had all countertops installed, but there were still tons of cables to be put into the walls, the oven to be installed and a million other things that ate our time. It wasn't that we didn't work, but it still seemed we were not getting much done. Every day, I was covered in the dirt and concrete dust from hammering cable channels into the walls. I'd crawl under the roof to lay cables and return covered in a disgusting mix of spider webs, dust, dirt and sweat. My brother was outside meanwhile working on the granite, swallowing the fine stone dust that filled the air when he was grinding and polishing the stone.

With so much work to do, we were able to convince Tuk that we wouldn't want to go to Bangkok with her. She'd fly to Germany for a month and Tony had to take an exam in his future school a couple of days later. We'd stay in Sukhothai and continue our work.

Two days after Tuk had left we had finally accomplished some visible progress. The countertops all in place but the one above the oven, which was installed now, all the cables in the walls and the channels only visible by the mortar that now filled them, everything looked clean and had a touch of being a kitchen close to finalization. A closer look and we were reminded of how much more was missing, the tile top bordeure, a paint job, the wooden cupboards. But, there was no time to do them now, my brother's visa ran out and it was time for a little trip, just me and my brother, just like the good old times.
