Money Money Money...

As previously announced I did go to the flea market to get rid of a good pile of my belongings yesterday. Well, getting up at 4:30 a.m. on a sunday morning is not really what I dream of at night, well, if I get to dream, that is. I imagine, in that sort of trance state one could find the meaning of life, the solution for the planets waste and energy problems, accept global warming as a way of purification of the earth's overcrowded nature and instantly forget about all that the next moment. That's the trouble with great thoughts. Too many of them are born in trance states and immediately lost in time and space...

A shower got me into the next state of mind, out of trance back into pure sleepiness, while my flatmate simply refused to leave his state of trance for the next 2 hours. I am not really a morning person, but I can manage. Good that we had already packed the car the evening before. It would have been absolute pain to do it in the morning. And good thing I was driving, so we were no immediate danger to the traffic. Speaking of it... there actually was next to none. So, passing by all the nightcrawlers slowly leaving the clubs we made it to my brother's place in a spectacular 30 minutes. Way too early, of course, so we woke him and tried to not fall asleep on this couch while he got dressed and ready to go.

Now, did we get up early? I don't think, we did! Who are those scary flea market people? We were about the last too arrive in the place! And we didn't get much time to get organized. Before we could unpack much, the early birds flew in to get a hold of our best items cheap. I have never seen so many people in one place that would spent the best hours of sunday morning not sleeping just for the reason of spending money.

The rest of the day was less exciting. I gave away many useless but beloved items for what seemed way too low of a price. And that was the better part. After noon we just stood there and waited most of the time. All the good items had found new owners and we sat in well presented piles of crap waiting for some dummies to spend their precious euro bills on that... We packed the remains of the rip-it-right-out-of-my-heart-sale back into our cars around 3:30 p.m., totally exhausted and with a good face tan. I had earned about 10 days of travelling for things that I hadn't really touched in a long time. I was torn between satisfaction and depression about giving so much sentimental value for just some more bills in my wallet. I made myself realize that there's not much, I will be able to take along on my trip. Everything's got to go...

That night I felt the more intense effects of the day. Watching the EM2008 soccer finals with some friends, standing in a public place, I felt my feet hurt like I haven't in a long time. Satisfaction had won over depression which I expressed in buying one of the most expensive bacon burgers I've ever had in my life and not even thinking about the price. A tasty burger makes it all worth the while and let's you forget about anything. Who won the finals? I don't know. Must have forgotten...
